Need To Detox? 6 Ways To Kick Start 2012.

Whole Foods Market in La Jolla has a big display with detox and diet in mind. Most of the supplements are around $25, but I am not sure what else is involved. There are plenty of books and other resources available there too.

Happy New Year! Did you eat too much, sleep too little, and not exercise enough over the past month or two? All of the above apply to me, which is why I’m looking forward to starting off 2012 by cleansing and eating healthier. Here are several ways you can detox and lose weight. Juice Cleanses Juice cleanses are great for people who want to diet or detox without putting thought into what you’re eating. I have actually not been hungry on a professionally made juice cleanse. The downsides are cost (nearly $200 for a 3 day cleanse) and not being able to chew on food. If you can swing the cost, it’s a fast way to lose a few pounds and kick start healthy eating. If you want the cleanse delivered to you, there are two major players to choose from. BluePrintCleanse BluePrintCleanse is the first cleanse I ever tried and I’ve done it twice. They provide a cheat sheet (yay!) so I ate 1/4 of an avocado in the late afternoon when my energy is typically low. BluePrintCleanse is now available at some Whole Foods stores (sadly, not in La Jolla). Read more about my experience with BluePrintCleanse. Ritual Cleanse Ritual Cleanse is a Southern California based organic juice cleanse. I like that they have a Shred component that you can add to the cleanse if you want to work out. Read more about my experience with Ritual Cleanse. I do not have a strong preference for one of these cleanses over the other. Ritual Cleanse juices taste slightly better and are organic. BluePrintCleanse isn’t totally organic, but they have better information and more options than Ritual Cleanse. I would go for the one that has an active promo code. If you live in San Diego, there are two local companies who offer cleanses you can pick up. Beaming I did not do their 3 day cleanse, but I did sample some of the juices and the unbelievable salad. You’ll need to pick up the clense at locations such as Solana Beach, Carmel Valley, Carlsbad or La Jolla. This is the best tasting juice cleanse I’ve had yet. It is slightly more expensive than the ones mentioned above but you do get to eat a delicious salad. Read more about Beaming. Juicers Solana Beach I haven’t done this yet, but know friends who have. Order the juice cleanse, pick it up at Juicers and drink a small glass every hour. I believe that you are allowed to eat some protein and a salad in the evening. Give Juicers a call. Whole Living Magazine Clean Eating Action Plan Martha Stewart’s Whole Living is by far my favorite magazine subscription right now. They have a Clean Eating Action Plan which starts on January 2 (or whenever you want to start it). The recipes look amazing. If you’d like to see what’s happening during week 1, visit Whole Living online. La Jolla Dad and I are going to try this out. I have kale chips in the oven as I type this. Eat Raw Food Only My good friend Minh is a raw food chef here in San Diego. I’m going to have him teach me more about raw food because the more I read about eating raw, the more intriguing it is. I sent out one tweet about how I was considering a raw food cleanse and was inundated with responses from people who have eaten raw. They said that they never looked or felt better. In the meantime, I bought Raw Food Cleanse: Restore Health and Lose Weight by Eating Delicious, All-Natural Foods – Instead of Starving Yourself Need To Detox? 6 Ways To Kick Start 2012.. So far, I like this book because most of it is recipes that seem easy to make. Stay tuned for more raw food posts. Drink Lemon Water This was my most popular post of 2011. The comment section is full of helpful advice from readers and testimonials regarding how much lemon water has improved their overall heath. Read 10 Reasons Why You Should Drink Lemon Water In The Morning. Exercise Regularly This is a no-brainer, right? My new year’s resolution is to incorporate yoga, pilates and/or barre classes once a week into my 2-3 day per week boot camp regimen. Speaking of boot camp, I go to the 9:15 class by RW3 Fitness at A Time To Dance on Pearl Avenue. Drop the kids off at school and come join me. It’s the best. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2012!
